MPOB Education Foundation Scholarship 2010


Introduction


The MPOB Education Foundation offers two postgraduate research scholarship at any universities recognised by JPA (PSD) in UK, Australia and US for intake 2010/2011.

Eligibility

The candidates must satisfy the following conditions :
  • Be a Malaysian citizens
  • Have an offer for a place in the UK, US or Australia university for postgraduate degree by full timing research
  • Has good command of english , minimum of 580 for TOEFL or IELTS 6.0
  • For Masters, the applicants must have Bachelor Degree with a first class or second class honours in the same related discipline
  • For PhD, the applicant must have Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in the same discipline with good honours in both.
  • Research undertaken must be related to Oil Palm and its products must be beneficial to MPOB.

Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship


Introduction

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan.

It aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region.
Upon completion of their study programs, scholars are expected to contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries.
The ADB-JSP enrolls about 300 students annually in 20 academic institutions located in 10 countries within the Region.
The ADB-JSP provides full scholarships for one to two years.

Eligibility

  • Gained admission to an approved MA/PhD course at an academic institution .
  • A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with superior academic record.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time professional working experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application. Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills to be able to pursue studies.
  • Not more than 35 years old at the time of application. In exceptional cases, for programs which are appropriate for senior officials and managers, the age limit is 45 years old.
  • In good health.
  • Should agree to return to his/her home country after completion of studies under the Program.
  • Executive Directors, Alternate Directors, management and staff of ADB, consultants, and relatives of the aforementioned are not eligible for the Scholarship.
  • Staff of academic institutions are not eligible for the Scholarship.
  • Applicants living or working in a country other than his/her home country are not eligible for scholarships.
  • ADB-JSP does not support applicants who are already enrolled in graduate degree programs.
  • ADB-JSP does not sponsor undergraduate studies, distance learning programs, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, and research projects.

Value of Scholarship

The ADB-JSP provides:
  • full tuition fees
  • a monthly subsistence and housing allowance
  • an allowance for books and instructional materials
  • medical insurance
  • travel expenses
  • For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be available for thesis preparation.
  • In special circumstances computer literacy, preparatory language and other similar courses may be covered under the scholarship.

New Strait Times Scholarship Fund 2010


Introduction


Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad invites eligible Malaysian students to apply for New Strait Times Scholarship Fund 2010 to pursue full-time diploma or bachelor degree programmes at local Public Institutes of Higher Learning (IPTA) for 2010/11 academic session. Malaysia Airports – Education Sponsorship Program (ESP)

The Education Sponsorship Program (ESP) is yet another Corporate Responsibility (CR) program by Malaysia Airports in support of its CR mission to be a world-class organisation that is committed to sustainable development of its communities. The ESP program is a platform for us to make a difference by nurturing young talents and contributing positively to the nation and its people.
The ESP is designed to encourage and support excellent students to attain their high educational and professional objectives. The ESP aims to provide the sponsorship for potential individuals with excellent education background to continue their studies at selected Colleges and Universities, enabling them to acquire the knowledge and competencies to become the future leaders of Malaysia.
This is one of the primary social obligations for Malaysia Airports to develop the talent pool in ensuring continuous supply of highly competent staff for its immediate and future growth and needs.This program will also groom the next generation to be leaders in airports business industry.

Fields of Study

The ESP aims to sponsor students undertaking Management, Engineering, Information Technology and other courses which are related to Malaysia Airports’ business objectives.

There are 2 types of programs offered:

  • Foundation Program
  • The foundation program is sponsorship extended for preparation courses done locally, prior to proceeding to undergraduate programs at either at local or overseas colleges and universities.
  • Undergraduate Program
  • The undergraduate program is sponsorship extended for undergraduate studies both locally and overseas.

The eligibility criteria for Foundation Program are:
  • Must be a Malaysian
  • Achieve minimum education standards as listed in Annexure 1

  • Accept all responsibilities and obligations outlined in this policy by signing the Education Sponsorship Contract (Agreement)
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURE
Application for ESP shall be made through the Human Resource Division (HRD) of Malaysia Airports or by filling in the online application form at Malaysia Airports’ official website.
The criteria for the selection of potential students are based on the following:-
  • excellence in education and co-curriculums;
  • interview outcome;
  • acceptance to continue study by recognized colleges or universities; and
  • written and profiling test.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
  • The selection for Foundation and Degree programs at Colleges/ Universities will be made by the applicant in consultation with the Malaysia Airports, where applicable.
  • The student must attend a recognized Colleges/Universities certified by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) of Malaysia and approved by Malaysia Airports.
  • The student must ensure the course program applied is approved by Malaysia Airports.
AREAS OF ASSISTANCE FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS
Tuition Fees:
  • tuition and registration fees will be paid in full for students who are taking up full time courses at the recognized College or Universities; (refer to Annexure V)
  • tuition fees will be paid only for the courses which are officially listed as compulsory by the college or university for the completion of the program;
  • other elective courses may be sponsored with prior approval from Malaysia Airports i.e. Aviation Management,Transport and Logistics, and etc;
Costs for Books & Supplies, Accommodation, Project, Thesis Papers and Practical Training allowances will be provided as per requirement.

Home Passage

Return airfare tickets will be provided once a year to Undergraduate students attending colleges or universities overseas.

Clothing allowance;

The students will be provided with winter clothing allowance once a year (if required).

Living Allowance;

  • Food, lodging, local travel, tuition and course program equipments i.e computer etc. will be provided under the sponsorship agreement;
  • Living allowances will be paid every month to the student whether during semester break or any college or university approved holidays.
Management Rights Clause
Malaysia Airports reserves the sole and exclusive discretion to evaluate and offer the sponsorship to qualified candidates as it deems fit. All decisions of Malaysia Airports in any matter in relations to the ESP shall be final and no discussion or correspondence will be entertained. Malaysia Airports reserves the exclusive right and responsibility to manage the ESP successful candidates and to direct the successful candidates who are subject to this program.

CIFP Scholarship 2010


Introduction

International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) is offering scholarships to outstanding candidates to pursue the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) Full-time Programme commencing 7 June 2010 in Kuala Lumpur.
As the only global university dedicated to Islamic Finance, INCEIF aims to develop graduates with a global outlook who are well-versed in Islamic finance and Shariah principles. The CIFP programme is structured to combine academic rigour with industry insights through interactions with practitioners.

  • Evidence of English proficiency.

Japanese Government Scholarship with ASCOJA recommendation 2011


Introduction

Japanese Government with the collaboration of Japan Graduates Association of Malaysia (JAGAM), a chapter of ASEAN Council of Japan Alumni (ASCOJA) will be providing a scholarship (Japanese Government Scholarship Students with ASCOJA recommendation) to an eligible applicant for Master or PhD course for the April 2011 enrollment.

Fields of Study

Humanities and Social Sciences:

Literature, History, Aesthetics, Laws, Politics, Economics, Commerce,
Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology, Music, Fine Arts, Business Administration & etc.

Natural Sciences:

Pure science, Engineering (Biomedical Eng, Civil Eng, Environmental Eng & etc.),
Agriculture, Fisheries, Pharmacology, Medicine, Dentistry, Home Economics & etc.
Note:
  • Students majoring in medicine or dentistry shall not be allowed to carry out their clinical studies by conducting medical examinations or performing operations, unless they are permitted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare under the provisions of the Japanese laws concerned.
  • Fields of study must be one of those available at Japanese universities. Practical training given by factories or companies are excluded.

Eligibility

  • Must be Malaysian citizens
  • Under 35 years of age as of 1st April 2011
  • Applicants must be university or college graduates, ideally a first class or second upper honours degree holder (CGPA must be at least 3.20 out of 4.0).
  • Applicant must have good command of Japanese language AND/OR English language, preferably those possessing valid TOEFL, IELTS or TOIEC certificate.
  • The study area must be in the same field as the applicant has studied (or is now studying) or is working in a related field.
  • Applicants must (be willing to) learn Japanese language and (to) receive university instruction in Japanese.

Value of Scholarship

During the term of the scholarship, the recipient will have a monthly allowance of approximately 152,000 yen while fees and tuition at university will be exempted. A round-trip airplane ticket is also provided.

  • (a) Original undergraduate academic transcript in ENGLISH or JAPANESE language, OR a photocopy of the transcript CERTIFIED by ISSUING AUTHORITY*. Academic transcript not certified by the issuing authority, as well as computer generated academic transcript, is not accepted. The page containing information on grading system (ex. Grade A = 81-100, Grade B = 71-80, etc) must also be included. Japanese Associate Degree Scholarship


Introduction

MARA Education Foundation (Yayasan Pelajaran MARA) invites qualified and suitable candidates to apply for their Japanese Assosiate Degree Scholarship (Program Biasiswa Ijazah Berkembar di Jepun) to pursue studies in Japan for 2010/2015 session.

Eligibility

  • Open to all Bumiputra candidates who obtained excellent SPM 2009 result.
  • Active in co-curiculumn activities
  • Parents with income less than RM1500/month will be given priority.

Scholarship Value

The full scholarship is for a period of 5 years (3 years in Malaysia + 2 years in Japan)
