HSBC Classics Bursary 2010 Scholarship
HSBC Bank Berhad started offering the HSBC Classics Bursary Award in view of the rising number of Malaysians who wished to pursue their studies in classical music. Along with its annual HSBC Classics music festival which has showcased a whole host of talented local artistes alongside a few international names, the HSBC Classics Bursary is another initiative to help nurture Malaysian talent and develop the classical music industry
The recipient of the last HSBC Classics Bursary was none other than rising Malaysian pianist Wong Shuenda. He has received rave reviews for his performances around the UK. In conjunction with the Chopin Year 2010 he was invited to play for a master class with Peter Donohoe held at the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre. Shuenda is also a Recommended Artist under Making Music's Philip & Dorothy Green Award scheme for 2010 and has also been awarded Making Music's Raymond Fox Bursary for Instrumentalists.
Applications are now open to Malaysian students aged 25 years and below for the HSBC Classics Bursary awards to study classical music in an internationally recognised music / performing arts school / college or music department of a recognised university.

Powertek Berhad Scholarship


Powertek Berhad ScholarshipPowertek offers scholarships to deserving undergraduates pursuing degree programmes at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
Launched in 1997, the objective of the Powertek Scholarship Award is to ensure that there is a continuous supply of entry-level graduates to fill the needs of the nation, as well as to meet the Group's human resource needs.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have achieved excellent SPM examination results and are financially deserving. Applicants are required to submit an application form and undergo an evaluation process conducted by Powertek which includes one-to-one interviews and personal profile analysis.
The value of the scholarship is up to RM20,000 for each academic year. This amount covers the academic fees, accommodation, books and living allowances. Scholarship recipients are required to serve Powertek for a stipulated period upon completion of their studies.

MPOB Education Foundation Scholarship 2010


Introduction


The MPOB Education Foundation offers two postgraduate research scholarship at any universities recognised by JPA (PSD) in UK, Australia and US for intake 2010/2011.

Eligibility

The candidates must satisfy the following conditions :
  • Be a Malaysian citizens
  • Have an offer for a place in the UK, US or Australia university for postgraduate degree by full timing research
  • Has good command of english , minimum of 580 for TOEFL or IELTS 6.0
  • For Masters, the applicants must have Bachelor Degree with a first class or second class honours in the same related discipline
  • For PhD, the applicant must have Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in the same discipline with good honours in both.

Introduction

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan.

It aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region.
Upon completion of their study programs, scholars are expected to contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries.
The ADB-JSP enrolls about 300 students annually in 20 academic institutions located in 10 countries within the Region.
The ADB-JSP provides full scholarships for one to two years.

  • A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with superior academic record.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time professional working experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application. Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills to be able to pursue studies.
  • Not more than 35 years old at the time of application. In exceptional cases, for programs which are appropriate for senior officials and managers, the age limit is 45 years old.
  • In good health.
  • Should agree to return to his/her home country after completion of studies under the Program.
  • Executive Directors, Alternate Directors, management and staff of ADB, consultants, and relatives of the aforementioned are not eligible for the Scholarship.
  • Staff of academic institutions are not eligible for the Scholarship.
  • Applicants living or working in a country other than his/her home country are not eligible for scholarships.
  • ADB-JSP does not support applicants who are already enrolled in graduate degree programs.
  • ADB-JSP does not sponsor undergraduate studies, distance learning programs, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, and research projects.

Value of Scholarship

The ADB-JSP provides:
  • full tuition fees
  • a monthly subsistence and housing allowance
  • an allowance for books and instructional materials
  • medical insurance
  • travel expenses
  • For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be available for thesis preparation.

New Strait Times Scholarship Fund 2010


Introduction


Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad invites eligible Malaysian students to apply for New Strait Times Scholarship Fund 2010 to pursue full-time diploma or bachelor degree programmes at local Public Institutes of Higher Learning (IPTA) for 2010/11 academic session. The Education Sponsorship Program (ESP) is yet another Corporate Responsibility (CR) program by Malaysia Airports in support of its CR mission to be a world-class organisation that is committed to sustainable development of its communities. The ESP program is a platform for us to make a difference by nurturing young talents and contributing positively to the nation and its people.
The ESP is designed to encourage and support excellent students to attain their high educational and professional objectives. The ESP aims to provide the sponsorship for potential individuals with excellent education background to continue their studies at selected Colleges and Universities, enabling them to acquire the knowledge and competencies to become the future leaders of Malaysia.
This is one of the primary social obligations for Malaysia Airports to develop the talent pool in ensuring continuous supply of highly competent staff for its immediate and future growth and needs.This program will also groom the next generation to be leaders in airports business industry.

Fields of Study

The ESP aims to sponsor students undertaking Management, Engineering, Information Technology and other courses which are related to Malaysia Airports’ business objectives.

There are 2 types of programs offered:

  • Foundation Program
  • The foundation program is sponsorship extended for preparation courses done locally, prior to proceeding to undergraduate programs at either at local or overseas colleges and universities.
  • Undergraduate Program
  • The undergraduate program is sponsorship extended for undergraduate studies both locally and overseas.

The eligibility criteria for Foundation Program are:
  • Must be a Malaysian
  • Achieve minimum education standards as listed in Annexure 1
The eligibility criteria for Undergraduate Program are:
  • Must be a Malaysian
  • Achieve minimum education standards as listed in Annexure 1 
  • Complete Foundation program with minimum CGPA of 3.00 and above at a recognized College/University and be accepted to the Undergraduate studies at any local or international college/university.
  • Students with other scholarship scheme or individual funding may be considered. (details refer to Annexure 1)
  • Accept all responsibilities and obligations outlined in this policy by signing the Education Sponsorship Contract (Agreement)
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURE
Application for ESP shall be made through the Human Resource Division (HRD) of Malaysia Airports or by filling in the online application form at Malaysia Airports’ official website.
The criteria for the selection of potential students are based on the following:-
  • excellence in education and co-curriculums;
  • interview outcome;
  • acceptance to continue study by recognized colleges or universities; and
  • written and profiling test.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
  • The selection for Foundation and Degree programs at Colleges/ Universities will be made by the applicant in consultation with the Malaysia Airports, where applicable.
  • The student must attend a recognized Colleges/Universities certified by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) of Malaysia and approved by Malaysia Airports.
  • The student must ensure the course program applied is approved by Malaysia Airports.
AREAS OF ASSISTANCE FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS
Tuition Fees:
  • tuition and registration fees will be paid in full for students who are taking up full time courses at the recognized College or Universities; (refer to Annexure V)
  • tuition fees will be paid only for the courses which are officially listed as compulsory by the college or university for the completion of the program;
  • other elective courses may be sponsored with prior approval from Malaysia Airports i.e. Aviation Management,Transport and Logistics, and etc;
Costs for Books & Supplies, Accommodation, Project, Thesis Papers and Practical Training allowances will be provided as per requirement.

Home Passage

Return airfare tickets will be provided once a year to Undergraduate students attending colleges or universities overseas.

Clothing allowance;

The students will be provided with winter clothing allowance once a year (if required).

Living Allowance;

  • Food, lodging, local travel, tuition and course program equipments i.e computer etc. will be provided under the sponsorship agreement;
  • Living allowances will be paid every month to the student whether during semester break or any college or university approved holidays.
Management Rights Clause
Malaysia Airports reserves the sole and exclusive discretion to evaluate and offer the sponsorship to qualified candidates as it deems fit. All decisions of Malaysia Airports in any matter in relations to the ESP shall be final and no discussion or correspondence will be entertained. Malaysia Airports reserves the exclusive right and responsibility to manage the ESP successful candidates and to direct the successful candidates who are subject to this program.

CIFP Scholarship 2010


Introduction

International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) is offering scholarships to outstanding candidates to pursue the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) Full-time Programme commencing 7 June 2010 in Kuala Lumpur.
As the only global university dedicated to Islamic Finance, INCEIF aims to develop graduates with a global outlook who are well-versed in Islamic finance and Shariah principles. The CIFP programme is structured to combine academic rigour with industry insights through interactions with practitioners.

Eligibility

Candidates for the above scholarship should possess :
  • competent in English (TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS level 6)
  • Bachelor degree with a minimum of Class two Upper Honours or a CGPA of 3.00 in any field of study.
  • Graduates from Sciences, Engineering, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Law and IT disciplines are encouraged to apply. All accepted CIFP full-time programme candidates will be automatically considered for the scholarship.

  • Certified and notarised academic certificate and transcript in English.
  • Evidence of English proficiency.
  • A copy of IC for Malaysians and passport for international applicants (all pages).
  • Two passport-sized photos.
  • A processing fee of RM50 (Malaysian)/USD20 (international).
The scholarship will cover tuition fees, living allowance and airfare between Kuala Lumpur and home country for international students. Selections will be based upon academic excellence, working experience and potential contribution to the Islamic financial services industry.

The deadline for the CIFP full-time programme application to be considered for the scholarship is 11 April 2010 (international applicants) and 25 April 2010 (Malaysian applicants).

Japanese Government Scholarship with ASCOJA recommendation 2011


Introduction

Japanese Government with the collaboration of Japan Graduates Association of Malaysia (JAGAM), a chapter of ASEAN Council of Japan Alumni (ASCOJA) will be providing a scholarship (Japanese Government Scholarship Students with ASCOJA recommendation) to an eligible applicant for Master or PhD course for the April 2011 enrollment.

Humanities and Social Sciences:

Literature, History, Aesthetics, Laws, Politics, Economics, Commerce,
Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology, Music, Fine Arts, Business Administration & etc.

Natural Sciences:

Pure science, Engineering (Biomedical Eng, Civil Eng, Environmental Eng & etc.),

Note:
  • Students majoring in medicine or dentistry shall not be allowed to carry out their clinical studies by conducting medical examinations or performing operations, unless they are permitted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare under the provisions of the Japanese laws concerned.
  • Fields of study must be one of those available at Japanese universities. Practical training given by factories or companies are excluded.

Eligibility

  • Must be Malaysian citizens
  • Under 35 years of age as of 1st April 2011
  • Applicants must be university or college graduates, ideally a first class or second upper honours degree holder (CGPA must be at least 3.20 out of 4.0).
  • Applicant must have good command of Japanese language AND/OR English language, preferably those possessing valid TOEFL, IELTS or TOIEC certificate.
  • The study area must be in the same field as the applicant has studied (or is now studying) or is working in a related field.
  • Applicants must (be willing to) learn Japanese language and (to) receive university instruction in Japanese.

Value of Scholarship

During the term of the scholarship, the recipient will have a monthly allowance of approximately 152,000 yen while fees and tuition at university will be exempted. A round-trip airplane ticket is also provided.

  • (a) Original undergraduate academic transcript in ENGLISH or JAPANESE language, OR a photocopy of the transcript CERTIFIED by ISSUING AUTHORITY*. Academic transcript not certified by the issuing authority, as well as computer generated academic transcript, is not accepted. The page containing information on grading system (ex. Grade A = 81-100, Grade B = 71-80, etc) must also be included. Applicant who submits photocopy of transcript without certification by issuing authority, as well as photocopy of transcript without grading information, will be disqualified.

The Discipline of Social Statistics and the Centre for Census and Survey Research at the University of Manchester offer an MSc programme in Social Research Methods and Statistics. The programme provides a firm grounding in advanced quantitative methods, taught within an applied social science framework. The programme is designed to be accessible to non-statisticians yet more focussed than most of the existing Masters courses in social research methods.

The Intel Penang Design Center (PDC), established in 1992, is one of the largest and most advanced Intel Design and Development centers in the Asia Pacific region. Intel PDC designs Intel® Core™2 processors, Intel® Atom™ processors, and Advanced IA Platform Chipsets.

Our Design Engineers architect and create innovative IP and features for the next platform system-on-a-chip solutions on 45nm (nanometer) and 32nm process technology. Intel PDC grants R&D scholarships every year to outstanding students from local universities throughout the country.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Intel Penang Design Center Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a Malaysian citizen
  • Be a full-time student in a local university studying in the fields of Electrical and Electronics, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering
  • Not hold any other scholarship from other companies, organizations, or Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA)**

Have one or more of the following:

  • SPM with A1 for mathematics and all science subjects
  • STPM with grade A for a minimum of three subjects
  • Matriculation with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above
  • For university undergraduates, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 is required

Yayasan Tun Suffian Scholarship

Introduction

The Yayasan Tun Suffian or, in English, the Tun Suffian Foundation, was established by the execution of a Trust Deed and an Agreement pursuant to the Trust Deed on 11 June 2002 during a simple ceremony in the Chambers of the then Chief Justice Yang Amat Ariff Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin who graciously agreed to be its Chairman.
