HSBC Classics Bursary 2010 Scholarship
HSBC Bank Berhad started offering the HSBC Classics Bursary Award in view of the rising number of Malaysians who wished to pursue their studies in classical music. Along with its annual HSBC Classics music festival which has showcased a whole host of talented local artistes alongside a few international names, the HSBC Classics Bursary is another initiative to help nurture Malaysian talent and develop the classical music industry
The recipient of the last HSBC Classics Bursary was none other than rising Malaysian pianist Wong Shuenda. He has received rave reviews for his performances around the UK. In conjunction with the Chopin Year 2010 he was invited to play for a master class with Peter Donohoe held at the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre. Shuenda is also a Recommended Artist under Making Music's Philip & Dorothy Green Award scheme for 2010 and has also been awarded Making Music's Raymond Fox Bursary for Instrumentalists.
Applications are now open to Malaysian students aged 25 years and below for the HSBC Classics Bursary awards to study classical music in an internationally recognised music / performing arts school / college or music department of a recognised university.

  • Applicants must submit a CD recording of their performance (of 10 – 15 minutes duration) with an accompanying letter from their instrumental/music teacher, authenticating the recording. Please label the CD with your name.
  • Applications must be accompanied by:
    • a copy of your identity card
    • a short resume including biodata, details of music education, current teacher(s), musical activities, prizes or awards in music competition.
    • a letter of recommendation from either current or recent teacher or a professional musician
    • a recent passport size photograph

Powertek Berhad Scholarship


Powertek Berhad ScholarshipPowertek offers scholarships to deserving undergraduates pursuing degree programmes at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
Launched in 1997, the objective of the Powertek Scholarship Award is to ensure that there is a continuous supply of entry-level graduates to fill the needs of the nation, as well as to meet the Group's human resource needs.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have achieved excellent SPM examination results and are financially deserving. Applicants are required to submit an application form and undergo an evaluation process conducted by Powertek which includes one-to-one interviews and personal profile analysis.
The value of the scholarship is up to RM20,000 for each academic year. This amount covers the academic fees, accommodation, books and living allowances. Scholarship recipients are required to serve Powertek for a stipulated period upon completion of their studies.

Tanjong Scholarship Awards 2010Tanjong Group of Companies, as part of its commitment to being a good corporate citizen, offers educational scholarships to deserving Malaysian students to pursue their tertiary education at Malaysian universities.
The Tanjong Scholarship Awards (TSA) are open to financially needy and academically deserving Malaysian students to pursue full-time degree programmes in any discipline at public universities in Malaysia.

Funded by Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tanjong, the TSA 2010 are open to Malaysian citizens who have obtained 4 principals with a minimum of 3As in their STPM 2009 examination, or completed Matriculation Programme for the 2009/2010 session with a minimum CGPA of 3.5. Applicants who are active in sports and/or co-curricular activities would have an added advantage.

There is no bond attached to the Scholarship. However, as part of the Group’s efforts to develop its human capital, scholars will be given preference in respect of employment opportunities within the Group upon their graduation.

Tanjong scholars are also provided with personal development training in the areas of leadership, communication, teamwork and creativity as well as working attachments in various departments within the Group during their study breaks in the first year.

The scholarship is also opened to undergraduates of these institutions.

The Maxis Scholarship for Excellence Award (MSEA) presents young and outstanding Malaysians a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to embark on a journey that will allow them to realise their goals.
This undergraduate scholarships to Maxis postpaid customers or children of customers who have excelled both in their academic studies as well as their extra-curricular activities.
Maxis seeks well rounded individuals, who have demonstrated leadership skills in the classroom, as well as in sports, social work or other areas. Recipients of this scholarship will be able to pursue courses at either a local or overseas university – a significant step towards pursuing their life’s dreams and ambitions.
Offered Institute: Any local or foreign universities recognized by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE); or Universities ranked in the world’s Top 100 by the Times Higher Education ranking.
Field of Study: Any field of study at Local University.
For foreign university, preferred field of studies are those related to the telecommunications industry:
  • Business Administration / Management / Marketing / Accounting / Finance / Communications / Human Resources Management;

Criteria & Eligibility:
  • Applicants or their parents must be a Maxis postpaid customer with a minimum of 1 year tenure with Maxis postpaid services
  • Having a good payment record with Maxis.
  • Applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged below 23 years old.
  • Applicants must not be bonded to any body and must have secured an unconditional offer or acceptance letter from a local or foreign university prior to receiving the Maxis Scholarship for Excellence Award (MSEA).
  • Applicants can apply for the Maxis Scholarship for Excellence Award (MSEA) with a conditional offer letter from a local or foreign university. Upon being awarded the Scholarship, they must have an unconditional offer or acceptance letter from their university of choice.
  • Applicants currently in their 1st or 2nd year of undergraduate studies may also apply for this scholarship.
  • Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and be active in extra-curricular activities. Applicants must at least pass their SPM examinations and achieve any of the following results in their foundation course of choice :
    • STPM - minimum 3 As or
    • Matriculation / Diploma - CGPA 3.5 or above or
    • A Levels - minimum 3 As or
    • Australian TER - minimum 90.0 or
    • Recognized foundation/Pre-university courses – equivalent to CGPA 3.5 or above or
    • Current 1st or 2nd year university students must have a CGPA of 3.5 or above
  • Applicants are also required to:
    • Possess a good command of the English language, both written and oral;
    • Be a team player;
    • Excel in extra-curricular activities and sports; and
    • Possess leadership qualities.
Scholarship Coverage: RM10,000 per year (Local university); RM150,000 per year (Foreign university)
Bonding: For those pursue overseas study will be bonded for 3 years. Those who are pursuing local degrees will not be bonded
